Laila Laperriere

Tuesday, September 17, 2013

For several years, I looked forward to posting in this blog, laying awake wondering what designer wear I would dress Laila in before taking photos and uploading them here, and hoping I had not forgotten to add a credit.

Life has a way of surprising us when we least expect it. My life has done a complete 360. It all changed when the love of my life and myself moved to an urban city. Let me just say a busy city can be both scary and challenging at the same time, and far different than a sleepy lake town. My day is full of real life activity, and many new people I have met along the way.  I recently became a Zumba Fitness instructor, and anxious to further my training in this exciting career. I am also training for my first 5K run. I never would have thought at 51 I would have this very active life style. It was more a luxury thing, you know, travel, see the just goes to show you again, like I said, Life really can surprise you.

With all that being said, I am taking Laila's Passion down soon. I do not have the time to keep up with my blog, and it is kind of sad to see the last post I entered was several months ago. I have enjoyed this blog and I have loved blogging the fashions of Second Life.

To those magnificent bloggers who have been my mentors in the past, Keep up the great work, and I know you will inspire those the same way you inspired myself.  I plan on keeping up with Flickr, and although my photos will be very rare, I will enjoy looking at your creativity, as I always do.

Not much else to say really, but to take care of yourselves. =)

Thank you and much love.

What's Your Digits~Take 3/Proportions Challenge

Who likes giving out there digits?  Hmm? I can recall a time when I was a noobie, and I would spend hours on the dimension scale, believing I had conquered the "perfect" shape. Afterwards, I would go out to meet with friends, all proud of my digit work, only to be asked by friends of mine, uhh, what did you do to her? And....back to the drawing board I would go, of course, this was after stubbornly defending the shape I had worked on for so long. *Side note, I never let my friends know how long I had worked on my shape, but I think they knew.

This is what I think of while participating in Berry's meme for this week called What's your digits? This is her third year of the digit challenge, and I love checking out the photos of avi's to see how we have changed over the past few years. Here is mine from two years ago. Below is this year's photo, and following questions Berry would like us to answer.

Getting back to my first question. I never have a problem giving out any of my digits. But, I have discovered the easiest way in attacking the shape dimension controversy. Buy a shape you like, and when you tweak (which you will) keep it minimal.

Proportions Challenge Questions
  1. Do you try and keep your avatar’s body proportionate and similar to the “average” proportions pictured above?  I didn't add the "average" proportions photograph , but I would say I try to keep my avatars proportions somewhat believable to a womans shape in RL.
  2. What do you dislike the most about the SL avatar mesh? Other than the eyes that seem to be to far sunk into the skull, nothing.
  3. Does it bother you when you see other avatars that are not proportionate at all?  It does not bother me, everyone has there own style. However, I do notice if a shape is extremely not proportionate. In other words, Teeny tiny waists and so wide of hips that it takes the saddle shape out of being curved and looks boxy. Boobs so big with zero gravity, giving the effect of a chin shelf. But, I realize majority of average and good proportions have to do with constant tweaking, which I do, especially with mesh clothing.
  4. Even though this is a virtual world and people can be anything they want to be, do you feel when they are in human form, they should try to keep their proportions close to average? No, because what could be average dimensions on one, could look totally different and sometimes ugly on another avi.  I suppose the bottom line is, this is your virtual world, and your shape can look however and whatever you want it to look like.

It's all about the bootay

A few weeks ago I purchased these mesh jean shorts from Redgrave. I have no idea if they are new or not, but, was a must have after I saw how well they look on. If your a booty girl, (like myself) then, you are going to love these shorts. They come with an assortment of textures and colors, studs on the back pocket and a studded bangle to match. And just to add to the booty look, wouldn't you know Rogan Diesel came out with two sets of new poses, many of them paying attention to the backside of our beautiful avi's. =)

A few new items I have on are the Elvis inspired shades by Boom called Begas. They are unisex and very stylish for anytime of the year. Attached is a nice hud for lens and frame colors. And finally, at last! Our hair god Truth Hawks has made the cutest baseball cap/hair combo. The hat comes with a hud for changing textures, making it easy to wear this combo often, and matching them up (or not) to your apparel.

Movie Poster Challenge

This week for Berry's Challenge/Meme  is movie poster themes. I chose one of my favorite characters  Carrie Bradshaw from Sex and the City. This was the second movie they did, and to be honest, I didn't care for it, but LOVED the clothes she wore. Here is my somewhat interpretation of the poster. Not sure if you all remember OC (Orage Creations), I think many of us have something of her's in our virtual closet's. I remember when this dress came out,  It was a must have, and I wore it once. =\

I am so glad to wear this again, and for such an awesome challenge, thank you Berry. By the way, you all need to check out the link for all the entries posted  on her blog, or in the flickr group, they are fabulous!

Berry's Acrostic Poem Meme

Our beautiful Strawberry Singh had a new meme this week. It is called an "Acrostic Poem" and it means that the first letter of each line spells out a word. She said it was probably something we did in school, but my age, that was some time ago, and I do not remember which also goes along with my age. =/

I love the poem meme's and hopefully she will have more for us to do in the future, hint hint!

I used the links Berry gave to get started on mine, and here they are..........

First one, LOL, this is what I came up with.  Read, Write, Think/Acrostic poem

Second one I cheated on with the generator. Oh! I like this one! LOL.

Behind the SL Me Meme

I came across this cute meme on several bloggers pages, Lashae, Rudh, KismeT and Mayala, I loved nosing into your favie things. The person responsible for this different twist on a blog meme is Cara from her pretty fashion blog iCandy .
I suppose the way to describe this meme is viewing into the bloggers real life's likes. I enjoy reading what makes us tick as humans, it always brings a smile. =)  Thank you Cara!

I bypassed the PS graph to make this and used a website I visited last year for something similar. Here is the link to the site, if you would like to participate. I found it easy to use for creating the mosaic and uploading  photographs. Bighugelabs/Mosaic

Fameshed is one of my faves, I always find the most interesting items, the majority of them being what I crave, and that would be clothes. Rebel Hope has designed this sexy mesh mini, and it comes in pretty colors to choose from, but I knew the white and silver would go with my Gos Grace sandals. Also, Exile has some new hair do's out, this one is called "Bad Reputation", don't cha love the names they choose? Then last but not least, I paired up this saucy little number with a newer necklace from Mandala, and really, who can go wrong there?
