I dress for the image. Not for myself, not for the public, not for fashion, not for men.-Marlene Dietrich.

How true this statement is to me regarding the ever evolving Laila Laperriere. Her name was chosen for one of my favorite songs by Derrick and the Dominos "Layla."  Her last name rymed with derriere. And from then on, I have put her through some good, bad, ugly and beautiful. But all the same, I have spent the time and the lindens on this beauty, and enjoy every second of it. When a new skin is purchased, Ill take off her clothes, and check her out from top to bottom. Finding what part do I want to show off, and what part do I maybe want to keep covered. I know you all do the same. Who we are in our lives can and usually does trickle through our barbie dolls. I believe sexy is beautiful and it should never be associated with slutty, there is a difference.  The image of Laila that I have tried to achieve can vary in design. But one thing for sure, I dress her with the knowledge of knowing she is going to look good. And that is where blogging comes in. How many hours have you spent fixing up your avi, You know your lookin good, so what do you do? You venture out with the thought of ...ooh, let me be seen! Which is all fine and good, except that gets boring to, doesnt it?  When you blog, your taking and sharing pictures of what YOU have put together. It may be anothers design, but it is you that chose the color, the hair, the shoes, skin, jewelry...the list goes on. You publish it here, list the credits of who the designs belong to, and if you have something to say (which I always do) you can write whatever you want. Fashion blogging is a place where so many of us with the same mind set of our avi's can meet, and share each others creative ideas.

I wrote this extended post to encourage us all. To let you all know that your blogs do mean something and they never go unnoticed. Blogs keep us on our toes of what we can achieve as writers, the novice and best of photographers, and more importantly, the beautiful people we come across, embracing them into our hearts as friends. Our time within the 52 week of color challenge is coming to an end in 2 weeks. But I ask that this does not stop you from blogging, and that we all continue to strive forward in the virtual blog world, whether it be more challenges or just simply posting a picture up of our avi's, we spend so much time decorating.  For those who are thinking about blogging and havent..just yet, jump in there, get your feet wet. Take a look at the links on this page LunaJubilee.com/52weeksOfColor/Comments/ to get ideas of how to start your own blog. I wish you luck.

OMG Laila :) Such a beautiful post and words! I had to go run off to Youtube to realize I knew the Eric Clapton version of the song. And so many things about our looks and why we do it... to make us feel good inside. Love the Marlene line!
You look sexy and pretty :)

Gorgeous Laila... both pictorially and in words. I'd kinda started to lose my mojo a bit... but you picked me back up so thank you!

You look amazing and that is a great quote.

Great post! Blogging is such a wonderful experience and it really does create a space for learning, creativity and growth. The best part of this challenge has been seeing so many new-to-me to blogs and bloggers!

What a fabulous post!! And I have to say YES! Especially to what you wrote about dressing up and going out to be seen...sometimes boring and sometimes just plain disappointing. Blogging give purpose to it all. It adds to the fun, and it helps with introspection, which is always important. Thank you for your post, Laila (and as I was clicking your link on Luna's page, I was singing "Layla" in my head!).

A great post where your thoughts mean as much as your effort in making a great outfit. I wrote this week that I've encountered some great bloggers, and I intend to stay in touch after the challenge as I know their talents will be put to use in other ways.

Oh, Laila, your words are so true - every last one of them. Thank you for articulating what we all feel, and saying it with such beautiful emotion.
Oh, and how DO you consistently shoot such stunning photos, week after week?

That was such a thoughtful post, I almost forgot there was also a very pretty fashionpic in it!

The color challenge has been a great experience. Not only has it made me start my own blog, it has also introduced me to a whole world of other SL-blogs. My Second Life experience will never be the same again, that is for certain!
